Today, many people are selling their handmade and flea market type items online. Some are even holding their garage sales online. With people's lives busier than ever, this trend seems to work very well for both buyer AND seller. But what about safety?

When you sell an item online, you usually don't know the buyer, and visa versa. Sure, they may have a profile listed and appear to be the sweetest, nicest person on Earth, but how do you know what they wrote is real?  How do you know someone isn't just trying to come case out your house? Or how do you know that the seller isn't trying to lure you to his/her house to do who knows what to you? This isn't usually the case, but it only takes one time to result in tragedy. I recently was told by someone that sells online that a buyer was trying to get him/her to meet them after 10:30pm to pick up an end table that was being sold online! That was an obvious Red Flag, but not all Red Flags are so obvious and you can't be too careful.

Then there are the Meet-Up points. You sell something online .... you purchase something online, then you agree to meet at some 'in between' point for delivery/pick-up. This, too, can be very dangerous, even if meeting in a parking lot. In a flash you could be hustled into someone's vehicle and driven away .....
