Stuffed Animal Jackpot!

Yes! This was my Flea Market find from last weekend! Well, there was a lot more, but this was what I came home with and took pics of. The rest was a bunch of great clothes that someone gave me and they are in my storage, ready to sort and hang. I can hardly wait to go through them!

I got really excited about the stuffed animal and toy clearance I came upon. It was all you could stuff into a kitchen garbage bag for a super small price. I know I can really stuff a bag, but I still can't believe I got all of that in that kitchen bag!

The baby bathtub was pretty dirty, but it won't matter for what I will be using it for. It was only a buck and had a drain in the bottom! It will either end up being a litter box, or a mini salad garden. I think I am going to go with planting a mini salad garden in it first.

The shirt on the far left was in a trash stack at another vendor's, so it cost nothing. It was a sweatshirt that someone had made into a jacket. The stitching was coming loose in a spot on the facing inside, but will be easy to put back in only a minute or two. It also had a slight fade spot where it had been folded. but you can hardly tell. It is a little small for me, so I will probably give it to one of my gardening friends/relative to use out in the yard when they want a jacket but don't want to have to worry about messing it up.

The one in the middle was my size *smile*. It is a sweater set... tank top and over sweater. It, too, was in that trash pile. So, what was wrong with it? Someone had dripped their drink or something in about a 1-inch diameter spot! Looks like it will be easy to wash out. Oh, the things people throw away for the silliest reasons! Just makes you want to smack some sense into them.

The brown shirt on the far right is corduroy. It is my size, too! It is the Looney Tunes brand with Tweety on the pocket and looks brand new. I don't think it has even ever been worn! Actually, it is one size too big, which is what I had been looking for for an overshirt. Can you believe it was only a buck, too!

That white thing to the right of the brown shirt is a single, fitted flannel sheet. It had definitely been well used, but didn't have any holes in it. It was all worn in and soft, which is perfect for what I am going to make with it . . . reusable tissues! I will show them to you when I get them finished. I almost have them done.

As for all of those stuffed critters and toys, there are a couple I may keep, a few I will put aside for gifts through the year, a few of the slightly damaged ones will be dog toys, and the rest, I will be posting here and there online to sell.

Facebook Group to Match

As some of you know, this blog started out as a blog that posted about one of our local Flea Markets. Recently, that Flea Market decided that they no longer wanted to use this blog nor my services. Instead of deleting this blog, I changed it up a bit, including the name, and decided to really have some fun with it!

Right after that, amazingly enough, Facebook asked me to admin a Flea Market group that had sat idle for nearly 5 months without an admin. I jumped on the opportunity because I thought it would really enhance this blog, and this blog could enhance that group. I also changed that group name to the same as this blog, Flea Market Fun.

It got off to kind of a rough start. With no admin for nearly 5 months, it kind of went wild and was getting used for all kinds of posting. Then in comes me, new kid on the block, in authority position, cleaning up the place, and several people got mad and left. I guess that was to be expected, but I always hate seeing people leave, even if it is just a few. But it is running smoothly, now, many people have joined us, and we are having so much fun!

I would LOVE to simply post the link over to that group right here, but, unfortunately, just before the last admin left, she changed the settings of the group to "private" and I am not able to change that one setting back. What this means is, no one can see the group unless they are IN the group. Bummer!!!! It does not come up in the Facebook searches. There are a couple of ways around this, though, if you would like to join us.

First, if you have a friend already in that group, you can simply have them add you to the group. You have to be on a member's friends' list before they can add you to the group. Second, you can 'friend request' me and send me a message on on my page to let me know that you are doing so so that I can add you to the group. This is all kind of a round about way, but it does work and at least it keeps out all the scammers and spammers. The Flea Market Fun group is over 2000 members strong and we are having lots of fun playing "show & tell" with our Flea Market, thrift store, and dumpster diving finds, along with sharing ideas of how we can repurpose so much of that stuff.

Warm Enough to Flea Market!

 Yay!!! It is finally warm enough to go out to the Flea Market for a day! It has been way to long. The past few weeks have been far too cold. Then before that, for at least a month before that, it seemed it picked all the weekends to rain. I enjoy the rain, especially when my garden is growing, but I don't like it when it always comes on flea market days. Guess no matter what the weather does, we are going to find something to complain that it doesn't match up with.

I'm not sure which I am more excited about, getting to finally set up, or getting to go walk around the other vendors a bit and see what bargains they have that I can't live without! I remember last time I was there, I saw several things I was wishing I could get, and since then, I have realized that some of the things I saw but didn't look at too closely, I have since thought of something I needed them for.

One woman had some wigs for sale. I looked at them, even played around with one, but thought. "I certainly don't need one of those!" But then, one of my girls had me make her a headband. Now she thinks I could sell a lot of them. I was trying to figure out what I could display them on. I have seen, at our local hobby shop, that they have those cheap, styrofoam heads that you can display things on. Those things look creepy! Then I remembered the wigs and thought that one of them might make one of those cheap white heads look a lot better. Would be even better if I could find something round, tomorrow, that is unique and head-size, that I could use! What do you think I should look for that might work?

Flea Market Yarn & a Granny Square Afghan

   There is an endless number and variety of items you can find at a flea market. One of my favorite finds, one that I can never find enough of, is YARN! Usually the yarn I find around flea markets averages about 50 cents a skein. But every now and then I hit the jackpot and get a huge bag for just a few dollars!

Awhile back I did just that. I found a huge bag of yarn for only 2 dollars! I made several afghans for gifts out of that bag, along with several little projects. I especially enjoyed making my Granny Square Afghans and Lapghans out of it.

For you crocheters, the little afghans pictured are simply a Granny Square that you just keep making bigger and bigger. I used acrylic, worsted weight yarn and either an H hook or an I hook, which ever gives you the result you are looking for.

I laid out my colors in advance, so they would kind of blend into each other, or coordinate with each other. I did 3 rounds of each color with the H hook (2 rounds for the first color), and 2 rounds of each color with the I hook.

To finish, I single crocheted around with whatever color I had enough left of. I like to use the same color I started with when I can, or finish with the same color as the last round.

These are so fun to make, and fast, too! So now, I am once again on the hunt for another great yarn find at a flea market! I really need some more yarn!

New Name - New Style!!!

Hello, Everyone!!!

As many of you know, I have been running this blog for quite awhile for a local Flea Market. That Flea Market has decided that they no longer want/need to use this blog in their advertising platform. SO . . . .

Rather than just totally delete this blog, I decided to change and update it into my own blog. Now, rather than discussions about that local Flea Market, I will be discussing Flea Market Fun in general!

Over time, my fiance and I will be visiting flea markets all over and posting about our adventures and fun finds. I will also be posting tips and pointers for flea marketing and fun you can have at flea markets.

I will be posting what unusual and clever things you can do with your flea market finds, refurbishing ideas, repurposing ideas, repairing tips, and a host of other topics that center around Fun at Flea Markets in general.

So stay tuned and come back often. I look forward to interacting with all of you, sharing our ideas with you, and hearing all of your ideas as well. PLEASE don't be bashful about commenting. WE LOVE COMMENTS! And we LOVE to hear your ideas, too!

Icky Last Weekend

  Looks like we are finishing up 2014 with some pretty, icky, drizzly weather with cold, and possibly some snow moving in by Saturday. As we always say, we are always officially open, you are welcome to set up, and we do have the covered arbors you can set up under at no extra charge. With this also being a big holiday weekend, though, combined with the dreary weather, most of our regular vendors probably won't be setting up. You are always welcome to call ahead for an update as to set-ups and who, or if, is open.

All of us want to thank you for your patronage this year. All of you, or customers, vendors and readers, are what makes our Okay Flea Market successful! Thank you immensely for supporting us!

Remember, we ARE officially open all year around. And when the weather dries and warms up just a bit, you can be assured that we will be open with some exceptionally fantastic year end sales! As some of you know, when Mother Nature hasn't allowed us to be open for a few weekends, once we do open, many of our vendors are so excited to finally get to open that they run some jaw dropping, amazing sales. So be sure to come on out and see us when the sun comes out, as you will find bargains you surely won't want to miss!

Officially Open, But Unsure Set-Ups

Hello, Everyone! We hope you are having a terrific Christmas season, so far!! To answer your possible question, YES, we are officially open this weekend.

BUT  . . . with the air so terribly damp and chilly, we are unsure as to which, or if any, vendors will be setting up. As always, you are welcome to call ahead to see if any vendors, or the vendor you especially want to visit are set up.

Vendors that do set up will still be having some exceptionally FANTASTIC sales! As you may have noticed, when the weather is like this, the sales are usually even more spectacular than usual.. . . kind of our "thank you" to you for venturing out our way in less than perfect weather.

And as always, if you are wanting to set up this weekend, we will gladly welcome you and there is plenty of space for you to set up.
If our vendors open, come on out and shop with us! We still have lots of great Christmas decor and you can find a wonderful selection of gift items. You will find great gifts for everyone on your list, and save loads of money over making your purchases at one of those big, corporate stores.

YES! We are open Thanksgiving Weekend!

Yes! We WILL be open this Thanksgiving Weekend!

Friday, the weather does look reasonably good, so far, but we can't guarantee that any of our vendors will be set up. Many of them have family in from out-of-town and will be spending a little more time with them. Some will be out-of-town visiting friends and family for the Holiday. Others will just plain be kicked back and resting from the excitement and over eating of Thanksgiving day. And then there are those that will actually be out fighting the crowds of the Black Friday shopping. So, although we can't say for sure that no vendors will be set up Friday, there may not be. Feel free to call ahead to see if anyone has set up Friday. But remember, it just takes one vendor with that perfect-for-you item to make it worth your trip!

SATURDAY; however, is looking very good at the moment!! According to the weather prediction at the time of this writing, it looks to be a fantastic day weather wise! And by Saturday, many of our vendors will probably be more than ready to get back out here and set up. And the bargains will probably be even better than the ones at the Big Stores!  So you will want to be sure and add us to your shopping list this weekend! Yes, we will be open Sunday, too!

Inclement Weekend Weather Pattern

  It seems we have taken on a distinct pattern of inclement weather weekends. Last weekend was extremely cold and snowy. This weekend looks to be a very comfortable light jacket temp weekend, but rain looms in the forecast. At this time, Saturday looks to be nearly a 100% chance of rain, and even possible storms.

Yes, we are officially open every weekend of the year, but with this being a dominantly outdoor business, most of our vendors will not set up in the rain, as I am sure most of you customers won't want to come and walk around in the rain to shop.

Although there is a huge chance of rain this weekend, there IS still a slight chance that it won't rain . We have seen chances this high before, yet the weekend turn out warm and beautiful with full set-ups. Only Mother Nature truly knows what she is going to do. So don't give up if your heart was set on flea marketing this weekend. And once again, you are always welcome to call ahead to find out if any of our vendors have set up and are open. You can find our contact info in the Contact tab above.

And remember, weather we are open or not,  you can always browse through photos of many of our items that are available in our Facebook Group. There you can also ask our vendors questions about their items or anything else you may want to ask them.

When the weather beautifies itself back up, the Fall Clearance sales many of our vendors are having will continue. Actually, to make up for lost sales, many of our vendors will have additional great sales. So you will want to be sure and come on out and not miss them. We will be overflowing with great bargains! A Frosty Weekend!

Brrrrrr . . . . . It is a cold one this weekend!!! No, it hasn't snowed or iced, yet, but it is spitting a little snow out there as I type. Looks like there is a small chance of the frosty white stuff Saturday, and a big chance on Sunday with VERY cold temps.

We always advertise that we are open All Year 'Round, and we are. All of our vendors are welcome to set up any weekend they want, ALL year long, and all of you, our truly valued customers, are eagerly welcomed to come on out and shop with us, ALL year long.  .  . .

BUT . . . . . .

Our Vendors DO NOT HAVE to set up. We certainly don't want anyone getting sick by setting up in inclement weather. It just isn't a wise thing to do. Although everyone is welcomed to set up, it is doubtful that any of our vendors will be setting up this weekend. We can't speak for each, individual vendor and say that no one will set up this weekend, but the chances are that no one will be. If there is snow/ice on the roads, we strongly discourage anyone from getting out unless it is an absolute must.

So, if you were planning on coming out and shopping this weekend at the Okay Flea Market and are unsure if anyone will be set up, feel free to call ahead and check to see if anyone has set up. And remember, you can pre-shop many of our vendors in our Facebook Group. There, you can browse around pics of many of the vendors' items and ask them questions in the comments. So you see, you can still Flea Market shop this weekend, even if you have to stay home where it is warm!

We hope next weekend is beautiful and, contrary to what it feels like outside right now, it is still Fall and our Fall Clearance Sales will continue, with prices that will drop your jaw! Have a safe and warm weekend and ...

Possibly a Little Later Start Due to Freeze

BRRRRRR . . . . .! ! ! !

It has gotten colder and colder as the day has gone on! Looks like we will be getting our first, REALLY HARD freeze of the season tonight. . . . . very unseasonably early!

We ARE open this weekend, but with the hard freeze, vendors will probably open a little later than usual. As always, feel free to call ahead, if you would like, to see if your favorite vendor has set up in this chilly weather.

The great and exceptional Fall Bargains continue on. Many of our vendors are still having their clearance, stock reduction and moving sales. The prices are definitely JAW DROPPING!

Fall and Christmas decor is now available. And it is never too early to start your Christmas shopping! Many items out here at Okay Flea Market are brand new, while others are Vintage and Antique. All make really great gifts for any occasion.

The sun should come on out and warm the day up quickly, so come on out, stretch your legs a little, and check out all the fantastic bargains and special, unbelievable sales!

Virginia's Last Weekend

Sad to say, but this is Virginia's final weekend at Okay Flea Market. After over 14 years of wonderful flea marketing, she has closed down her set-up. Last weekend she had her auction, but she had so much stuff that she still has a lot of great stuff left!  So this weekend all remaining stock is back for sale BUT at super drastically reduced prices! The bargains will be TRULY unbelievable!

Toy Man is  moving from one end of the flea market to the other end, so he is having a HUGE Moving Sale this weekend. The more he sells, the less he has to move.

The Cookie Lady will be here, also, this weekend with her yummy cookies and other great baked goods. Right now she even had homemade apple pies, baked fresh from her own, home grown apples! What a treat!

There will be quite a few vendors set up this beautiful weekend, and all are having some great super sales. Plus, you can be sure and find some great Halloween and Fall decor. We hope you can make it out.

Auction at 10am Saturday the 18th!

 It's finally here! At 10:00am tomorrow (Saturday, October 18th), Virginia's Auction of a lifetime of collecting and gathering will begin.

There is sooooo much wonderful stuff you would not believe, and such a great variety! No matter what you are looking for, you can be assured, there will probably be something great and wonderful here for you!

So come on out and join in the fun! And don't forget to take a stroll around our other vendors and check out all of their bargains, too!

And remember, we will be open all winter, too (weather permitting).

Virginia's Auction

  Yes, sadly, after about 14 years, our wonderful and beautiful Virginia is closing down her shop (space #40) and auctioning EVERYTHING off on Saturday, October 18th.

This huge event will begin at 10am under the Arbors, that day. She has an enormous amount of stuff, covering an huge variety that she will be letting go of. You WILL NOT want to miss this event!!!

Our fantastic Ray will be the auctioneer and it is promising to be a very fun and exciting auction, but we will miss Virginia's shop immensely!

What a CHILLY start it will be in the morning! But our sales are so HOT this weekend, you will warm up quickly!

Vendor #40 continues with her closeout sale. And many of our vendors are having FANTASTIC stock reduction sales to make room for new items for Fall. Their sales are so great, they are practically giving some of their stuff away. Oh, wait, they are giving some of their stuff away. Isn't that TERRIFIC!!! 

So grab a jacket and come on out and browse around. You are certain to find something you just have to have, for a price you just can't resist!
